Our Mission

Yek Salai is a digital initiative dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of the Meitei people of Manipur. Our primary goal is to provide an accessible and easy-to-use platform for individuals to explore the ancient clan system (Yek Salai) and discover the origins of their family names (Yumnaks).

In an era of globalization, it is more important than ever to stay connected to our roots. We hope this project serves as a valuable resource for the Meitei community worldwide, as well as for researchers, historians, and anyone interested in the diverse cultures of Northeast India.

Our goal is to create the most comprehensive and accurate digital record of Meitei Yumnaks. However, with thousands of family names, some may be missing or categorized incorrectly. Your knowledge and contribution are invaluable to this preservation effort.

If you have information about a Yumnak not listed on our site, or if you believe there is an error in our data, please help us improve.
